This is an absolute divine spot to kick back and recharge. Visually gorgeous surroundings that just let one melt into nature. Superb staff to meet your every wish. The food is substantial and delicious and they were right on top of fixing specials on request. The infinity pool fits unobtrusively into the jungle-like property, overlooking the rolling Cangrejal River. The rooms were huge, cool and exotic. Bathrooms very pretty and convenient. There are many adventures awaiting in the area, tubing, zip lines, river raft cruises, repelling, kayaking, and the city of La Ceiba is just a few minutes down the road. I have traveled the world, but Villas Pico Bonito and its staff have captured my very soul! Very peaceful area, the resort is fenced and gated with 24 hour security. The restaurant and bar are open air and the climate cool. There are ceiling fans everywhere and cell phones and internet worked just great.

It doesn't matter where you look when you are visiting Villas de Pico Bonito, the view is splendiferous! They have carved out a piece of paradise and put it on a platter for you to enjoy. This resort has everything you could want, yet is small enough that the staff can be very attentive and, if you like, you can get to know these amazingly friendly and sweet people.
From an impromtu merengue dance lesson to sharing music at the restaurant/bar and laughing our heads off with the staff, owner and other guests, we had the time of our lives. The food is really good, and original. There were things I've never had and try to replicate at home. The drinks are awesome. We had so much fun at the pool, and at the river, and they were so accommodating booking excursions for us, with trusted friends. We've been there twice and can't wait to see our friends at Villas Pico Bonito again, especially the dogs Ace and Lucy and 'our' kitty, Bebe!
We recently stayed at Villas Pico Bonito with our 2 young children. What a lovely place!
I think there are 3 main reasons for my review.
Firstly, the setting. Living in the Cayman Islands, the mountains, forests and rivers are all a welcome site.
Secondly, The grounds of the lodges are beautiful and also interesting. Flowers, trees, hummingbirds (and baby), toucans, parrot, turtles, fish, butterflies and frogs all make for a constant adventure. The restaurant/bar is welcoming and relaxing and the infinity pool overlooking the river and jungle is magical.
Thirdly the staff. They were all lovely and very accommodating to us and especially the kids. All the food was great and even though the lodge is in the middle of nowhere there is plenty of choice. Good margaritas and sangrias too!
We stayed in El Tucano and I could have literally spent days sitting on the large balcony watching and hearing the river and jungle.
I loved my stay at Villas Pico Bonito. Morning swims in the infinity pool with avian serenades from above and the gentle hum of the river below and glances up to the gorgeous waterfall with each breath is a fond memory I am still enjoying.
The layout of the grounds, buildings, gardens, and paths is meticulously well thought-out and executed with fantastic doses of both form and function.
Our cabin was well-equipped and nicely decorated. The food was quite tasty with a surprisingly varied menu. The staff was friendly, warm, professional, and accommodating. I have never met a more wonderful host than Richard.
This is the perfect retreat for anyone traveling through La Ceiba. Wish I could have stayed longer.
